Message in a Bottle
Having a bottle of
soda for lunch? Don't throw away that plastic bottle. Instead,
recycle it into a whimsical valentine! Pen a note to your loved one on red
paper; if you have time, decorate it with stamps, stickers or paint. Roll
up your note and stick it inside that soda bottle, which you have washed and
dried. Create a new label for the bottle on your computer using Valentine
themed clipart and wording such as "special delivery; message in a
bottle." Seal it well.
Presentation makes
this simple message truly unique. Run a warm bubble bath for your
sweetheart and hide the bottle inside the suds. It won't take long for him/her
to find this little bathtub surprise!

No
time to create your own message in a bottle? You can
purchase one from Personal Creations
for only $9.95. Your message printed on elegant parchment paper, which they then roll
up and place in a 7"L glass bottle, ready for its voyage to your special
someone. (Click here to go directly to the
Valentine Message In A Bottle
page.)
Fortune Teller
Remember playing this
game in grade school? A plain white piece of paper is folded and little
messages are written in each of the inside diamonds. You select a
series of numbers and eventually learn what your future will be. These
folded toys are fun to make--why not create one with
sexy or fun messages for your sweetheart? Directions for making and
playing the
fortune teller can be found at Thursday's
Classroom. (Note: they call them Cootie Catchers.)
Simply
"Puzzling" Message
Use a precut puzzle
(which has not yet been broken apart) and write a love note on it to your
sweetheart. Break apart the puzzle and tuck it into a red envelope, then
hide it in his or her lunchbag for a little fun reading while s/he is at
work! You can obtain pre-cut, unbroken puzzles from
a company called Compoz-A-Puzzle jigsaw puzzles
; they also sell
puzzles that can be run through your computer (in case you wish to create the
message in your computer or perhaps transfer a photo of yourself onto it.)
Acrostic
Valentine
If
you're good at writing prose, why not pen a few verses of a simple poem? Start
each line with the first letter of your sweetheart's name, so that all the lines
spell out your sweetheart's name or another message. For example, if your
special someone's name was Jana:
Just
because I love you so much
An
ordinary box of candy or bouquet of flowers wouldn't do
No,
I needed to give you something much more special
And
so I wrote this little poem for you!
Prescription
for Love
Here's
a clever way to re-use that old prescription bottle! Wash and dry it
thoroughly, then fill it with Red Hots or another small candy. On your
computer, create a new label that says:
Prescription
for Love
Take
one or two as needed when you want to add some spice to your life. Better
yet, share a few with someone you love!
Roll
the Dice, Love
Purchase two small
unpainted wooden blocks from your craft store and paint them red. After
they have dried, use a white paint pen to write small romantic messages on each side
of the blocks. (Some examples: hold me, hug me, your
heart's desire, ?, I love you.) Your mate
can then roll the dice to determine his special Valentine treat.
Another
option: purchase the fun-loving "Get Lucky" pewter dice from
Hallmark.com
for $35.
