Purchase a
canvas bag (we found a nice one with pockets at joann.com
) and decorate it with fabric paint. Or purchase a
medium-sized toolbox and decorate it with paint pens. Then fill it
with a variety of serious and silly items such as those listed
below. (Attach a tag to some of the items to explain their
significance).
1) A homemade frame with a photo
of his child or children.
2) A heart made out of red PlayDoh or clay. Attach a note that
says "My heart belongs to Daddy." He can later use it as
a paperweight.
3) A homemade ID card, created on the computer, complete with your
child's fingerprints and a recent photo. Laminate it so he can
keep it in his wallet.
4) A small bag of Hershey's HugsŪ and KissesŪ candy--so your child can
give him a hug and kiss even when he's at work!
5) A recording of your child's voice, telling Daddy a favorite story or
just talking. Dad can listen to it during his commute to work.
6) A package of Gummy Worms, along
with a handmade certificate good for a morning of fishing (with or
without the kids). (If Dad likes to fish). Or a box of golf
ball-shaped chocolates, along with a handmade certificate for a morning
of golfing on a nearby golf course.
7)
A little story book written by your kids (or dictated to you by your
kids). They can add their drawings, too. Check out the Tiny
Titles templates on the BillyBear4Kids website.
8)
A "Dad's
Day Off" door hanger. Check out DLTK-Kids
website for a printable pattern that your kids can color or decorate.
