Little gestures that say "I Love You, Dad"
Looking for some simple ways for your children to say "I Love You" to their Dad?  Here are a few ways to make Father's Day special this year:

1) Send Dad out to his favorite hardware or hobby store and encourage him to leisurely browse around there for a few hours.  While he is gone, get out the sidewalk chalk and have each child draw pictures and write a special message on the driveway for Dad. If you are afraid it will rain before Dad gets home, preserve the artwork temporarily by spraying hairspray on it.  Then wait for Dad to come home to his surprise!

2) Have your kids make up a little song and sing it to Dad on his special day.  If there are too young to create their own songs, check out Perpetual Preschool for simple songs and rhymes that even young children can memorize.

3) Put together a "Father's Survival Kit."

4) Purchase a kite kit.  Have your children build it with dad, then fly it together.  (How about packing a picnic lunch to enjoy after the kite flying?)

5) Make home made ice cream in Dad's favorite flavor. You'll find some unique ideas here, including recipes for Caramel Ice Cream, Coffee Ice Cream, Maple Ice Cream and more.

Alternately, you could all visit your favorite ice cream shop with Dad--and have your kids treat!

6) Set up a Father's Day throne using his favorite lawn chair.  Check out the Family Fun website for ideas.

7) Before the kids go to bed, have them sneak into your bedroom, roll down the covers for Dad and lay out his pajamas.  Include a plate of his favorite chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk and a handmade card for him to discover before he retires for the night!
