Start a new Valentine's Day tradition:

Heart Pocket Surprises

by Cheryl Schroeder

Last year, I was looking for a fun way to surprise my family on Valentine's Day morning.  I decided to create large heart-shaped pockets out of Fun Foam for each person in my family and then fill those pockets with little heart-themed surprises.

I cut two large heart shapes (mine are approximately 12" wide at their widest part) out of Fun Foam, then punched holes around the perimeter of each heart.  I wove 1 1/4" wide ribbon through the holes and gathered the ends together at the top in a bow.  I then decorated the heart pocket by gluing small heart shaped pieces of Fun Foam on the pockets; you could also use small plastic gems or heart-shaped buttons.   Finally, I used puff paint to write each family member's name on the pocket.

On Valentine's morning, I filled each pocket with chocolates, a valentine and other small goodies, then hung it on each family member's chair at the breakfast table.   We had so much fun that I decided to use the heart pockets every Valentine's Day!

Here are a couple of photographs of the heart pockets I created:
